This week I was lucky enough to be sent a copy of the beautifully presented Vans 1966 skateboard movie, book and soundtrack combo. The hardback book features pages of great photography by Percy Dean, and represents a sort of ‘behind the scenes’ look at the shooting of the film, featuring ‘action’ shots of some of the world’s best skateboarders, and plenty of other brilliant photos.

The film is great, and as well as including parts from some incredible Vans pros, including my good friend Danny Wainwright, it also presents a comical look at Vans’ history, looking at the many changes in skateboarding style, and the accompanying fashion throughout the years. The intro follows a Vans shoe from it’s first stages of production, all the way through to the store and on to the feet of a happy customer, with each of the Vans pro’s playing the part of an integral member of the manufacture, distribution and retail process.

It’s a great little package, and something I’ll treasure for years to come. Thanks to the lovely people at Vans Europe and Canoe for this great gift. You can grab it now at Loud Clothing.
